grand jury =/= jury

boy, just stop while you're behind but still able to see the pack.

and uses "keyword" while ignoring the key word in a post. stop, this irony is too much.

Isn't that what the impeachment process is for? To evaluate if an elected official should be charged with a crime or not? It sure is! Like I said in the first place, Trump is not impeached until the senate says so. If he was impeached, there would be zero use for a grand jury. Go celebrate the special Olympics.

Lol? That's not what a Jury does. A jury doesn't decide whether or not a criminal should be charged with a crime. (That's what the police do) Rather, A jury impartially evaluates the evidence presented in a court of law. The key word here is impartial.

Police gather evidence. They present it to prosecutors, and in the case of major crimes, a grand jury. The grand jury decides if enough evidence exists that a trial is warranted. If they think a trial is warranted, they render an indictment and send the issue to the courts and it is presided over by a judge and is decided by a petit jury.

You know what matters? That Trump will be acquitted aka the end result.

Have a Merry Christmas! :P :santa:

Almost everything u just said is wrong. Trump is impeached, now. As u admitted a few posts ago.

In this case the house is a grand jury. When they recommend charges that equals impeachment. Which they've already done.

These are really simple concepts man. Stop worrying about looking cool and read better.

And for the record I will celebrate ur 3rd place finish in the softball toss this year.

is he? I'm still not 100% sure on this
Does it technically count as impeachment if Pelosi refuses to deliver the articles of impeachment to the senate?

This is an interesting quirk since I wonder what stops McConnell from simply stating that now that Trump is "impeached", the senate will conduct their trial regardless of whether the articles of impeachment are delivered to them, and the outcome of the senate trial will decide the formal outcome of the articles of impeachment once they are delivered, if ever. Conduct their votes, leave it hanging to be resolved until Pelosi delivers, and if not, its a moot proceeding.

here’s another question - are the senators running or who have ran this year for President required to recuse themselves? wouldn’t want them to abuse their power by using it to engage in harming a political rival

Feels like we are watching a bad movie that we already know the ending to.

Can't help but think the Dems are overplaying their political hand here, even though I think it's the right thing to do. The public support for impeachment and removal from office has waned in recent days and the past week.

I'm not even sure this really will affect the 2020 Presidential election much, given how far away 11 months is in the Trump era where politics move so quickly. Might affect some House races, especially on the Democratic side in pro-Trump areas.
