If I wasn't told she was black and that it was racist I wouldn't see her as black. I still don't see her as black. If she was hispanic, would you could easily convince me of based off appearance, would there be anyone who cares?
the staunchest sjws would dig up anecdotes of any and all minority being mocked as monkeys, as they have throughout our history. at least on an absolute level there's some old cartoon of a latino, asian, black, or even irish person portrayed as a monkey. the monkey has long been a symbol for humans of lesser intelligence, which all races have been called over the years.
personally i think only affluent black people should be offended by the label, but all part-black people have the instant rebuttal of "all my life ive been told i'm not black enough to do something or think a certain way", so there's that.
this is why it's blackballed in standup. the responses from sjws are far too easy and the reception of those responses is largely supportive because people don't want to seem bigotted. it's a word u can't defend, but might not inherently be taken as offensive. its a gamble that in most contexts isn't worth it, just come up with another word for a dumb person. in this one it was a perfect storm, as it's a movie title from a recognizable haircut, and her ape-like appearance wasn't even the subject of the joke. allegedly.
