The Quran is of course up for debate and interpretation. It's just a belief system. There is no "objective Islam", just as there is no "objective Christianity".

it really isn't in the Islamic world. I would like you to prove otherwise in Islamic nations (places that practice sharia law) when it comes to homosexuality
I do not disagree that some people who identify as Muslim may ignore passages they don't agree with and people who identify as Christian do the same thing.

/e the whole 'Christianity does it too!" is ineffective because I don't support any religion's archaic beliefs

/e why is Christianity brought up every single time someone says something disagreeable about Islam?

it depends on the subject
you try to single out islam on issues the three key abrahamic religions agree
and in terms of sexual behaviour the interpretation of relevant passages of their 'holy script' by many christian sects is even more backwards than that of fundamentalist muslims - not arguing about the penalties imposed by countries following rigorously those texts, since that is not the issue here

The fact that there are major factions of Islam shows you're wrong.

I find it delusional to believe the Quran supports LGBT. That being said, there are many people who identify as Muslims that support LGBT by ignoring their Quran where it disagrees with their morals.

Sharia Law and Islam are two related, but different, things though. There are large Muslim populated areas that have civil law systems.

My point though is that what the Bible, or any religious text, "says" is largely up to individual interpretation. As such, there are Christians who're anti-queer, and then others who are pro-queer. The same is true for Islam and Muslims.

So You would be comfortable living under sharia law as practised commonly in Middle East countries like Iran or Saudi Arabia ?

:wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

no one said that the quran supports lgbt, you clearly are confused
as per christian support for killing homosexuals (watered down to life imprisonment) see

From a quick look, the majority of countries that live under civil law while maintaining majority muslim/islam beliefs are African countries that have a strong western influenced history.

So the fact that you can point out that "not all muslims are like that" really is insubstantial without clearly defining who you are talking about.

At the current point in time odds are if homosexuality is punishable by lashing , prison or death the odds are your in a Muslim country, likely under some form of sharia influenced law system.
