what makes you believe in your religion when there is no proof to back any of it up? how can you honestly believe in a supreme being that created everything and sits in the sky controlling everything all the time if you have any sort of intelligence?
Hey man your question stirred up quite a storm on the thread

which Is cool wasn't the first and won't be the last. I'll start with the statement that although you can't prove the existence of God I do believe more days supports the existence of a divine being rather then not.
To give you a little background I just graduated with a degree in biology so I know a lot of what your talking about. I want to point out that experiments have a certain bias to them. 4 people can test 4 different hypothesis with the same experiment and get 4 conclusions. For example. ... let's say we took 4 people to examine the complexities of the human genome. ..2 atheist, a Hindu and a Christian. 2 atheist would see the self replicating genome, notice how there are only 5 total nucleic acids, and then try to show that this could happen by chance with the theory that a bacteria was eaten by another to make mitochondria. The hindu would see the replicating cycle of dna and show that the earth goes in cycles and say ha that isproof. a Christian would see the complexity and random chance that life would come together being impossible and think this proves it.
Sorry long intro. so looking at the data who would be right? science can't answer why... the scientific method isn't designed to make that answer. It can't answer why we exist, or why there are 5 nucleic acids instead of 100 etc. for questions of why we look at our world view. I grew up thinking there was a God. But if he did exist he must be the most boring thing ever because that was how church was to me. It was that way until highschool when I learned that the God of the universe wanted a relationship not just a one a week meet up. I wish I could say I was perfect then, but atlast no. During this time I had a huge addiction to sexual things. ... you see you probably will say it's normal, but an addiction is an addiction. so going through college I tried to stop by my own will power. For 6 years I tried getting free. Well last year I did a 3 day fast where I focused only on God and his character. I founf that to be my launching pad to freedom. Now you can examine the evidence and say well I just got free myself... but I tried that. Well it worked because you finally did. ...I basically tried everything. so my view in life is there is a God who is drastically in love with his creation. enough so he sent part of himself to live among us and die and come back to life so that I can be rejoined to God. I can spit out cannon studies about the preservation of the Bible or different "facts predicted in the bible". But God is a god of relationship and it's easier to find him in people lives.
