for that the EU needs to be rebuilt from scratch, if not completely scrapped and newly founded
the people there right now certainly wont go away if we ask them nicely

redistribution will never work and only serves to decrease the desire for these countries to improve on their own

italy is the best example, they will never fix their deficit, corruption, piling up target2 debts and ridiculous spending policy as long as the money flows from the north

i am fine with financing infrastructure and providing opportunites, but everything else needs to stop
we are achieving the exact opposite of what the EU is telling us, right now we are not getting bulgaria and romania up to our level, we are going down to theirs, while brussels continues to grab more power

also we need to rethink the migration of workers within the EU to stop the brain drain
i dont need to tell a spaniard how many young and skilled people have left thanks to the shitty employment market
the local hospital here built extra houses for the spanish nurses and workers, that came here in the last 5 years

thats the irony of the mass migration debate, people talk about controlling migration on the planet....we cant even control it properly within the EU

The question is why do people like zark feel the need for increasing integration? IMO they're already too integrated and it's causing nationalistic sentiments in countries like Italy, UK, Hungary...

that's exactly my point: the true value of the EU lies in its ability to negotiate more favorable trade agreements than each member state could on its own, in saving money by a more joint military, in joint consumer protection standards, corporate taxation and so on. what all these things have in common is that those are areas where the EU states have interests which are almost perfectly algined. but for all these things, we dont actually need more integration.

moreover, Brussels politics is heavily influenced, if not outright controlled, by the big multinational corporations and their lobbyists. the current EU is serving their interests and their interests alone.

complete bullshit "study" from the bertelsmann mass migration promoters

the demand for workers will go down dramatically in the next decades so we should embrace a slightly declining population as a blessing
not to mention that we are still at around 200k additional migrants per year as we speak
how many more until these morons are satisfied?

too bad that the vast majority are illiterates with no intention and ability to work here

and lets be honest, no skilled foreigner with a choice will choose germany, wages are shit, taxes ridiculous etc

To overcome its skills shortage, Germany needs to remodel its society

=> Not sure about the "skills" but the article, however, is from 2013.

the study comes from a notoriously pro-corporate think tank which - not surprisingly - has been backing mass immigration for quite some time.

the major flaw of the study is that it uses an a priori assumption as the starting point for its calculation: that germany absolutely depends on maintaining the size of its workforce.
but in a world where we are producing goods with ever increasing efficiency, this is just not a realistic assumption, which in turn renders all the calculation built up on this viewpoint moot.

specifically, as ampoo already mentioned, our newspaper are at the same time full of articles from other economic think tanks saying that digitalization will eliminate about 25-40% of our jobs over the next two decades. so in this sense, some "downsizing" would be good and even necessary anyway.

another major caveat of the bertelsmann study is that it calls for the immigration of 260k foreigners into the workforce. the kind of non-EU immigration we are seeing in recent years, however, is largely into our welfare system and not into the workforce.

and even more worrisome is the fact that these workforce immigrants would need to match a very specific qualification profile if they were to replace the retiring german workers - and even under a tough immigration regimen in which we shut the door to everyone who doesnt help us and only let those in that we really need, it is exceedingly unlikely that we would even be able to find enough non-EU immigrants with these specific qualifications. so these more highly-qualified jobs which will become vacant due to our demographic change must be filled with immgirants who are already in the country and currently are children, so that they can undergo our entire education system and become prepared to take on these specific jobs. filling these jobs with freshly-arriving non-EU immigrants, as Bertelsmann is proposing, will not work anyway.

it is correct that our total labour force is decreasing, only logical
however this narrative is based on false assumptions
there is no shortage of workers in germany, both skilled and low skilled
the sheer number of reported available jobs does NOT give a correct impression of the actual market situation as too many factors are not included

wages are in a terrible state, we have record numbers of working poor and people in temporary employment agencies despite working in jobs we allegedly need so much
even engineers with a university degree are affected heavily

the big corporations are of course interested to keep going, more people means more pressure on the market for everyone and maximum profit for them
those they do not need can be "disposed of" in the german welfare state

good for the guy in the article, he and his family are welcome in our country, however he cant serve as proof for a false narrative

Germany could lack 3 million skilled workers by 2030, study finds

Nice, really. The workforce shortage is happening nearly everywhere in Europe and isn't new.
Germany has one of the most active economy AND one of the lowest birthrate, while german women are already 70% working.
Who will pay retirements btw ?

Certainly not some guy from Africa who's leeching off of our welfare system, doesnt speak 10 words of German and is not even literate in his own native language.
