when I was 18 I was compelled to join a labor union in a right to work state
By compelled I was told in no uncertain terms ( by the union rep) that if i did not join then he would have a job strike called and the bricklayers would not cross the picket line thus putting my boss out of business until the issue was settled with me joining or getting fired. Seemed rather compulsory to me at the time.
by the way the dammed union never did me any good at all.
