It’s interesting to see how many of you support blanket bans.

I support the right of the people to own unregistered fully auotomatic weapons. I see no reason why authoritarian gun registries would make us safer in light of the hundred million unregistered guns already on this continent. They simply allow oppression of the law abiding.

To oppress a people armed with widespread semi-automatic guns, the government would need to deploy the military. To oppress a people armed with widespread fully-automatic guns, the military would still be sufficient.

Hence, the difference between semi- and fully-automatic privately owned guns doesnt actually affect the capability or the threshold of an oppressive government.

Then why has the US military failed at every military engagement since WW2, mostly against peasants with rotting, ancient fully automatics?

Saying that the people should not be armed because the military is more powerful anyway (they aren’t unless they want to bomb their own country-—and then it’s a matter of air superiority rather than guns) is the most subservient, let the government rule thing I have heard today. And I’ve been taking to Democrats most of the day.

Uh, I know that "the US hasn't won since WWII" sounds nice, but isn't true. There is still a South Korea, so we won that one. As for Viet Nam, America's own bleeding heart liberals, lost that war for the US, at the expense of very many US soldiers lives.

As for all the middle east crap... they really weren't wars, but even so, the bleeding heart liberals, again, lost those skirmishes for the US.
