It was announced today by the U.S. Treasury that additional large scale Sanctions would be added to those already existing Sanctions on North Korea. I have today ordered the withdrawal of those additional Sanctions!

Is he really trying to assume the role of the "good cop" in the good cop bad cop game they're playing?

Reagan had a much better strategy dealing with dictators. Trump should probably mirror his.

Honestly I am conflicted when it comes to sanctions towards North Korea. The populace are poor and unhappy and additional sanctions have negligible impact on the ruling class. It feels like punishing people with no power.

Too late imo, north korea stock just ran out and theres already a crisis between north & south.

Ive been quite sure that hes been trying to do some kind of intentional mind game strategy on the DPRK with the whole abrupt walkaway from the summit and give more olive branches anyway and repeat
but its getting so incoherent and confused its hard to imagine this is a well reasoned strategy. The bold summit walkout might cast him as a position of strength in negotiations, but what does this schizophrenic sanction policy do? I don't think anyone can rationalize "psyche them out"

I agree, being unpredictable might net you an advantage in some interpersonal relationships and Trump might be using what he knows but I don't think it works great when it comes to foreign policies and certainly not when dealing with the DPRK.

I just think theres a difference between yanking the other guys chain, and tripping over your own chain when hes not around
