I understand you have a visceral reaction to hawkish politicians, but a few things:
- McCain was never disgraced. He upset the nutters in 2008 by not calling Obama a secret Muslim terrorist from Kenya. He upset Fox News watchers because he tried to compromise. He upset Trump because he was the polar opposite... a guy who took his privilege and lived a life of service. Not a privileged life of pornstars and skyscrapers. In life and in death McCain is respected by sane Republicans and Democrats alike. Historians will look at McCain much differently than Trump.
- Yes, McCain was very hawkish. He supported a number of conflicts. But so did most politicians. Trump voiced his support for many of these wars. So I'm having trouble understanding your argument. Do you simply disagree with my characterization of McCain, or do you think the POTUS should insult all of the living and dead political war hawks? Even though Trump continues the war on terror, as well as many of the hawkish policies that McCain supported.
Of course, that's putting aside the real reason Trump shits on McCain, which has nothing to do with his foreign policy views.
- McCain may be responsible for the deaths of those he killed in Vietnam. But if you want to blame everybody who supported a war for every death in that war, Trump is also to blame for every death in all the wars he supported(and currently supports).
The main point is that even if you disagree with someone's policy, there's a basic level of decency and morality that healthy human beings tend to follow. Especially if they hold high office. But Trump violates that because he's a horrible person, and the moral wimps who support him don't care.
