You can't pretend younger Republicans on the internet represent Republican voters as a whole. Sure, the anti-intellectualism of the past was more religious in nature. People who attended church every Sunday were more likely to vote for Cruz in the primaries. But Trump got those voters anyway. He's probably the least knowledge, least intellectually curious president in history. He speaks in four letter words. He intentionally misspells words in tweets so the "elites" can correct him in the media. He's an idiot.
Also, just take a look at some of the Trumpists here. Posting weak arguments and memes all day. Watching dumb grifters like Candace Owens, Milo, etc. These aren't intellectual people.... they're just another stupid generation with internet access.
What do Trump's arguments and knowledge look like? I always point back to this speech as my go-to example;
https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/statement-president-trump-paris-climate-accord/He cited his sources, gave the facts and figures, laid out a cogent argument. I'm sure you won't look past his trademark hyperbole and superlatives and see only the style, but the logic is right there. And what was the 'intellectual' response? The fact-checking pundits insisted that 3% growth was impossible. Politifact even 'fact checked' his purely rhetorical statement about the citizens of pittsburgh not paris. Krugman probably got out of his apocalypse bunker he has been hiding in since election night only to see his shadow and retreat.
In an era of identity politics, weaponized morality and utterly retarded mindbogglingly anti-intellectual retardisms like the Green New Deal, I don't see how you can pretend a faction that embraces smug intellectual youtubers is the party of anti-intellectuals. Oh noes, they're watching Jordan Peterson deliver a monologue of nuanced deconstruction of rhetorical tropes employed by illogical zealots, that stupid generation is getting its mind rotted by internet access! Look away Billy!

there's a difference between knowledge, intellect, and how someone represents themselves to the public. Would you prefer someone who looked good to the world (great speeches, friendly with allies, etc) but made questionable decisions or someone who looked questionable to the world but made good decisions?
We already know the answer to that question
Anyway Icemage, I'm going to give the archetypal example of left vs right political discourse right now, a video some of us should remember:
Who are the anti-intellectuals in that video?
Did you think Christopher Hitchens was an anti-intellectual back in the 90's? Who was your example of an 'intellectual' before that, Lester Maddox?
