This is also happening in the context of Trump's presidency. For people who aren't brain dead and are turned off by Trump's constant bullshit for years, and then some nutty CEO comes up to the podium and tells us Jesus loves Trump, it puts a bad taste in your mouth. The reservoir of leeway dried up a long time ago.

People always overreact. I'm just saying it was inappropriate, the guy should be praised for making masks, and criticized for making an ass of himself.

The MSM is like that 55-year old thrice-divorced woman who goes to her hometown bar with a ton of makeup on, gets plastered and starts flirting heavily with any guy half her age who will pay attention to her. She realizes she isn't attractive anymore and that it won't be long until even she can't pretend to be. She's desperate to hold onto any last scrap of attention she can get to make her feel like she's still in the good old days when she would frequent that same bar in the her 30s and guys would hit on her.

The MSM is thrashing for a attention, doing anything they can to stay relevant even though their days are numbered.

Except it is. Now that Trump cant hold his campaign rallies anymore for the forseeable future, he has turned the daily press briefings into his own little campaign events. He's doing what he knows best: create trashy but entertaining TV.

While I agree with the broader sentiment, there are exceptions. The New York Times and the Washington Post, for example, are thriving in the age of Trump.
The more realistic prediction imho is that the overall reach and number of paying customers will go down for the MSM, leading to a contraction of their market, followed by a market consolidation where only a few of the strongest/most high-quality outlets survive. Those survivors, however, might end up in a better place than they're in now.

i agree nearly across the board 100%. only thing i'd say is rather than "this isn't a campaign rally" should be amended to "this shouldn't be a campaign rally". Trump was smooth sailing into this election, recent events call this all into question. IMO he needs to take every opportunity to speak to the public about how he hasnt been a complete fuckup or he's in serious trouble. There's talk about quarantine season pushing into the heart of campaign season. and obviously Trump can't do rallies right now, if it was a normal year he'd already be in rally season.
