and nope, it turns out its yet another example of media manipulation and spiking a negative story about their favored candidate
reuters is at least openly admitting to it:
Quote
After more than a year of reporting, Menn persuaded O’Rourke to talk on the record. In an interview in late 2017, O’Rourke acknowledged that he was a member of the group, on the understanding that the information would not be made public until after his Senate race against Ted Cruz in November 2018.

No one in cDc would talk about O’Rourke until I promised not to publish before the 2018 election. That was OK: I wanted the full story for my book, which spans decades, rather than 1 scoop ahead of a state vote. I offered O’Rourke the same terms. He accepted, and we spoke.
The media agreed to spike a negative story about Beto O'Rourke until after the election, at the request of Beto O'Rourke
And we're supposed to trust the media, why?
He already had the goods. He didn't need an interview. Ethical journalists don't make politically motivated agreements to withhold stories for political impact, they give their sources an opportunity to comment and tell them its going to print with or without their comment.
How the
fuck can the media pretend that the National Inquirer capture-and-kill was some terrible violation of journalistic ideals at the same time the media was spiking the fairfax story, beto story, etc etc, I lost track of them all
