the media simply should not push a political agenda in reports about an apolitical topic like science. this politicization of every aspect of life is a cancer that must be pushed back, or it will consume us all.

It's an image (note: NOT a photograph) of the event horizon and stellar material surrounding the M87 black hole.

Science is often times used to provide (hopefully unbiased) facts which are required for political discussions, but this does not mean that science itself is inherently political. Particularly not a field like astronomics.

I know wtf it is... I'm a little skeptical though. M87 is a globular cluster, a huge globular cluster. Kind of hard to "image" what is at the center of it... especially at 53 million light years away.
I'm NOT a denier usually when it comes to science. But this feels more like grant or funding grabbing to me.
Maybe even a case of "let's make science respectable again" ploy.

I have no trouble with things like... we DID land on the moon, fossils are real, evolution is real, Microsoft DID just build a working DNA data storage device...etc., etc., etc.

You have literally no reason to believe so except your underbelly.
