I think that's the natural course of things. In order to compete on the world stage, you need a strong central government. The Founders would be furious that we haven't had several new Constitutions since it's inception.

They would likely form a militia and rebel seeing this status quo. Strike team Washington FTW.

Our strong central government is failing domestically at the cost of operating on the world stage unfortunately. I suppose that's natural in the cyclic nature. Imagine 50 strong states backing a Fed with a limited scoped mission. Other nations wouldn't want to wake the beast.

50 strong states isn't what would happen. There would be winners and losers, and I think it's pretty hard to argue that the federal government hasn't been a boon to economic stability and growth in the country.

(CNN)After pausing in the months before the election, federal authorities are now actively investigating the business dealings of Hunter Biden, a person with knowledge of the probe said. His father, President-elect Joe Biden, is not implicated.

Now that the election is over, the investigation is entering a new phase. Federal prosecutors in Delaware, working with the IRS Criminal Investigation agency and the FBI, are taking overt steps such as issuing subpoenas and seeking interviews, the person with knowledge said.

Activity in the investigation had been largely dormant in recent months due to Justice Department guidelines prohibiting overt actions that could affect an election, the person said.

CNN contacted Biden's attorney and the campaign this week seeking comment about the investigation. On Wednesday, they released a statement acknowledging the probe.

"I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney's Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs. I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors," Hunter Biden said in a statement.

Investigators have been examining multiple financial issues, including whether Hunter Biden and his associates violated tax and money laundering laws in business dealings in foreign countries, principally China, according to two people briefed on the probe.

CNN’s
@evanperez
was working on the story about the US Attorney investigation and reached out to Hunter’s legal team for comment Monday. They spoke on Tuesday and said they would get back to him today.

They didn’t.

Instead the transition team issued a press release.

Look, a group of competent people.

There's no doubt that the electoral college MUST make Trump the President. There's too much of a conflict of interest here for Biden to be President. If Biden becomes President, I'm moving to Somalia.

the founders were more concerned with avoiding too much external influence by meddling nations. hence the revolution, Louisiana Purchase, War of 1812, Monroe Doctrine, and general isolationism in the European-started World Wars (until we were directly attacked). Sadly the warmongering thugs took control after WWII

strong central govt hell fuck it the CCP and USSR 2.0 have incredibly strong central govts. so does NK and Iran. should we really go that route so we can keep being king bully on the global stage.

Well, I think people want to have their cake and eat it too. We can certainly be isolationist, but you can't complain about Chinese dominance at the same time. You can't complain about oil prices set by the Arabs. Personally, I think that our intervention and dominance can be misguided at times but it's totally worth it. I'm descended from Romans as opposed to Protestant reject Eurofags. That's probably why I'm an imperialist at heart.

New: Biden announces new admin picks.

Tom Vilsack, Secretary of Agriculture

Marcia Fudge, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

Denis McDonough, Secretary of Veterans Affairs

Katherine Tai, U.S. Trade Representative

Susan Rice, Director of the Domestic Policy Council

Tom Vilsack was Secretary of Agriculture throughout Obama's presidency. McDonough was Chief of Staff.

Susan Rice seems like a weird pick for that position.

He probably wanted Susan Rice in his administration, but had to pick a position which doesnt require confirmation by the Senate since the GOP has the knives out for her.
