Hopefully whatever phoenix arises from the ashes of the Republican party will understand that you don't have to bend to the will of the media to get elected and will find some nice middleground between being a pushover like Jeb and being an asshole like Trump.

I actually support a stronger GOP even though my more conservative days are behind me. I think having 2 strong candidates fighting for their sides is good for discussion and ultimately good for the country.

I don't think this election is a pretty one but I do believe it has sparked something that hopefully results in both parties improving their brands so we all can benefit from a more productive government that opens up opportunity to more people than ever before

Also yes, guilty pleasure. Seeing the Bush dynasty get torn to shreds via shit as simple as some tweets felt good.

he is obviously setting himself up for 2020 and doing it pretty well so far

saying he wouldn't attend the convention if asked and refusing to support him "yet" were good moves in his case we will have to see how the meeting goes this week

Paul Ryan is not a pheonix, he's simply a dodo bird about to go extinct.

He stayed out of the circus
he made an effort to brand himself a get things done kind of guy
and now he is publicly setting himself up to be the opposition against Trump

anything can happen but he is definitely playing chess right now in hopes Trump fails hard and it may work out for him

he could also bend over for Trump on thursday and it be the end of that as well

If by "get things done" you mean bend over backwards, sure.

His record is now worse than Rubio's. Any national race will expose this.

It's hard to see Ryan as having the fortitude to withstand the Trump train given party conflict.

http://www.vox.com/polyarchy/2016/4/11/11406228/ryan-budget-gop-crackup

"The 2016 budget process is looking more and more like another dysfunctional charade laying bare the internal party conflicts.

As in the presidential nominating contest, the divisions are posing serious long-term questions about how much longer the increasingly divided GOP coalition can hold together."

Ryan could point out how the greatest threat to the Earth is not Isis - its events like the burning of 200,000 acres where reports are that trees were just exploding due to the heat of the fires where Conservative efforts to put a price the damage so far top out at over 9 billion dollars. He could also mention the extreme drought affecting much of western USA and extreme weather in general - but that's highly unlikely given their agenda to just disagree with everything the President says.
