If that were to happen, the US would probably have to recall most of its military bases in mainland Europe. No way that you guys are ever giving up such a huge strategic advantage. No matter if you pay twice as much as everyone else.
And as I said, plenty of US military expenditure goes towards non-NATO activities. What you do with that money we have no part in, but don't hang it over our heads as if you're funding the entirety of NATO.

/e On a side note... the EU better hope WW III doesn't ever happen. Because with the percentages the EU is tossing into the pot, the Western world will probably lose.
US = 327 million
EU = 526 million
Doesn't look like the EU is holding up their end of the bargain.
/ee And I've heard (repeatedly) those in the EU wonder why the US doesn't have free healthcare, college, quasi-socialism, etc. Maybe this is part of the reason. ^^
