My understanding is she's going back to get rid of the backstop and implement 'technology' at the Ireland border. It would require a huge investment and has never been attempted in history, plus experts in the field are sceptical as to whether it'd work. So I can't see it ending well unless she's got something else up her sleeve.

Seems it's already know tech

But the equivalence stops here...

The EU's deputy chief negotiator, Sabine Weyand, has already ruled out using existing technology.
"We looked at every border on this Earth, every border the EU has with a third country - there's simply no way you can do away with checks and controls," she said following the vote in the UK Parliament.

Brexit makes Irish unity a real deal... Not sure UK would like it.

A bit of a problem that the DUP party is in the government and that giving north Ireland's sovereignty to the south is beyond bold past the friday agreement.

Imo the UK can create a plan for a harder brexit beyond the deal needed to be made at the 29th. But after the current deadline, they're on their own on formulating a new brexit without deadlines (the part I don't like about the Malthouse compromise is needing th EU to keep the UK to it's deadline of 10 years). I'd prefer the least strings attached to not blame the EU on not getting the trade deals done for a hard Brexit.

Wish them good luck with North Ireland, and the DUP (more than embarrassed by hard borders hehe) - they need for a majority...

and the South...

Donald Tusk burning them all...

Unscripted comments from Donald Tusk, president of the European council, warning of a “special place in hell” for those who pushed for Brexit “without even a sketch of a plan” set off a furious reaction in London.

Seems like a sign or Ireland dividing to me.

His best impression of British politics.. Purposefully rilling up conservatives.. Hmm, it's a bit below the belt, Also do understand frustration from Tusk. British politics is making a no deal more likely by the day.

Not divided but questioned: Brexit is rising the unification referendum question.

What do you mean with that? The south of Ireland wanting a referendum to annex the north?

Alright.. It's been debated endlessly in history of the division of north I and Ireland. There is a rise in the attention for it, agreed, and it could result in an reunification of the island sooner than expected post the Friday agreement. Yet all of it, doesn't have a chance if there is a deal in some form for Brexit, but if there won't be a deal, then it might get interesting. Also seen a request for a referendum for the whole of the island. On which I'm pretty sure the north will see that as an invasion.

Interesting evolving discussion, giving the backstop quite a bit of political leverage, I can see why the UK wants it removed.
