On the flipside, both paradise and sheol are pretty commonplace in Judaism. Nothing fringe there. Likewise, your soul living on through your descendents, etc. etc. Primary difference between Judaism and Christianity in the afterlife question is that Christianity nails it down to "here's what happens" where Judaism leaves a huge amount to interpretation, so there's a variety of beliefs involved. Judaism is also FAR more accepting, with their version of paradise, of those of other beliefs and faiths, while Christianity is rather close-minded (as is Islam).

So without knowing specifically what RBG believed, I'd say that tweet was 100% meaningless. Either you genuinely wish the best for her, in which case hoping she's in a "better place" is perfectly acceptable, or you either wish poorly (rot in hell) or simply don't give a shit, in which case, it's more of a "who gives a fuck?" The entire thing is stupid. She's dead. You can't push fuckall onto her.

That's not representative of the faith, the dogma, or the beliefs of the masses of followers. Only what a small number of elites do. Why would you assume that elites within a religious institution are any different than political or business elites?

That's not a "sect". That's just a tiny number of individuals who're shit to the core, and based on the beliefs they themselves claim to represent, will probably end up burning in hell, if indeed their beliefs are correct.

Or am I wrong? Again, not genuinely aware of any sect whatsoever of Christianity that allows for fucking children.

Edit: As a quick note, the same thing is done all too often (shielding people who've done terrible shit) by companies and businesses to prevent the scandal from reaching the press. We've found out about many of them, but all too many will simply disappear. It's often viewed that internal discipline is preferable to mob violence against the institution itself, should the scandal be known. Again, that's pointing straight to human nature. That religious institutions would be guilty of human nature? Okay. Sure, why not? They're human too. The fact that a bunch of sky fairy worshipping idiots may have elevated them into leadership doesn't change anything.

The whole sect basically complies with these orders. It's basically one of those "We don't believe in fucking children" but when it comes time to protect the children or report it to authorities the "large majority who don't think it's right" are silent.

People speak louder with their actions than their words, and the actions of certain sects have an exceptionally high volume.

Wait... So let me get this straight... There are um... 1.2 billion catholics in the world. Vatican city is literally it's own nation. So you're telling me that because a few people have simply been reassigned rather than deal with nonstop media backlash, by an entity that's so far away from the majority of the religion, which couldn't do fuckall to change it, and never elected or will likely ever see the super elites in the first place, that 1.2 billion people support fucking children, forgetting the fact that the religious texts indicate that doing such is wrong?
