"One photograph", from which amateurs were not only able to determine which satellite it was, but the time of day the image was taken, the image quality our satellites are capable of, and the fact that they are able to now counteract atmospheric interference. If "amateurs" are able to do this, what do you think professionals in foreign intelligence agencies will be able to do?
You and NPR "assume" that's what the amateurs did.
1. If the amateurs are right, we move the satellite. No loss.
2. If the amateurs are wrong, then the NPR article actually helps us. No loss.
If you are right, you get to further "orange man bad". If you are wrong, you get to further "orange man bad". Not very patriotic my friend.
