You only have to take a look at the places that voted out/in.

Ireland in, obviously, Scotland too, obviously.

But pretty much the whole of England bar the big boys voted out. That can't be from mass stupidity, there has to be a belief that this decision can make things better for everyone.

you lost me here. i did look at the ones who voted in and out:

in: the younger generations, well educated, n. ireland and scotland
out: older people, working class, england

ok, but what do you think this should tell me? what should i conclude from that?

again, i never said it was "mass stupidity" but i can't help but think that emotional / irrational reasons prevailed since no one was able to present a rational argument what exactly they expect by leaving the EU.

you say there "has to be a belief that this decision can make things better". well, that's obvious - i never assumed you people voted "leave" because you want it worse. my question is: HOW do you think things are going to change for the better for you? what exactly are those things you are so worried about that you thought leaving the EU would change?

the effect of a false belief can be just as bad as one from stupidity

I cannot believe a country actually decided upon national suicide.
The U.K. is finished.

not suicide but definitely an own goal
the latent imperial aspirations will be counter effective
the uk will certainly go a notch or two plus down in rankings

wonder how well the exit strategy is developed
if that has not been properly planned yet, your 'finished' might be right

There is none.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland is already considering unification with Ireland, while Scotland is considering independence. This was 100% predictable, which means anyone who was in favor of Brexit must be either in favor of UK's death or plain ignorant.

How is it a one-sided view? Are there any people who expected Northern Ireland and Scotland to vote Leave?

Quite hilarious how UKIP is this anti-elite/crony capitalism movement when Farage is one of the good old boys himself. Father was a City stockbroker, as was he himself.

Farage has already pulled back on the pro-NHS (Brexit would save 350m for NHS) slogans for the Brexit campaign. He actually wants to go to the American system, where the working class Brit gets reamed by the corporate overlords.

I honestly wonder how many of the Leave-voters actually know what the EU (and EEC) is and why the UK was a member in the first place.

When I get home to a computer I'll try and write up my personal feelings as best I can, it's a pain in the ass on my phone.

On the positive side of the £ falling. My workplace is getting people ringing up trying to place orders and pay for them in advance... It's quite hard to explain to them all we work in 6 month blocks and don't accept upfront payment.
