That's ridiculous.  According to polls it's something like 6% of them - ironically, the same number of Americans who are convinced that 9/11 was an inside job.

:(

Yeah I was going to put  but I figured I'd be srs.

IF the 9/11 was an 'inside job', what would have been the reason behind it? To start these wars? I feel as if the US hasn't gained anything from them.. explain!

That's the percentage that believe that they're justified in using violence and killing civilians, at least.

I had a source on it the other day and can't find it. Santara and I were discussing it. Ffffuuuu.

You cannot compare these people to educated western people. They simply believe what just a couple of religious leaders are telling them. They can't make a clear reasoning behind their decision on what they have to believe when it comes to taliban.

Some very doubtful statistics by the way.. Ask people in one place and it will be 50% and in a different one it will be 1%. 'The middle east' Doesn't really exist. I doubt they asked people in like 20 different places to get to this number.

That's a pretty culturally imperialistic viewpoint. :(

It has nothing to do with that, actually.

To them, their religious leader is sacred and they look up to them very much. In these regions religion controls a big part of the peoples' lives. They are not independent enough from their religion to question their own religious leader.

If you're sourcing the Who Speaks for Islam? survey the number is actually misleading. Closer to a quarter said there was some level of justification. Only 7% said it was completely justified.
