so with this attempt being made by not a democrat presumably, how exactly does trump gain anything from it now?

i was almost certain it would not have been a republican but rather a center or left leaning person, but now that its seeming like it wasnt, i dont see how this bolsters the voter base

First do this so you can confirm for yourself https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/Pages/voterregistrationstatus.aspx birthday 9/20/2003

and also /b/ and scroll down like 5 posts for the pictures

He seemignly has one political donation on record, which went to ActBlue.

Regarding him being a registered Republican: this place looks very rural and probably uniformly Republican. It is not uncommon for people in deep blue or deep red districts to register for the hegemonic party in their place, even if they belong to the other side of the political aisle, so that they can at least exert some influence via the primaries. This issue comes up quite frequently when Republicans from places like NYC decide to run for office and have to answer thorny question about why they were registered as Democrats until recently.

So just to make this clear: party registration isn't 100% infallible when it comes to deducing a stranger's political orientation. Granted, neither is a single, minor donation.

Democrats were also changing political affiliation at that time to push candidates they knew wouldn’t win.

ActBlue doesn't allow donations from people under 18.

https://secure.actblue.com/privacy

There is a 53 year old man listed as Matthew Crooks at that address as well. Maybe there's a sr./jr.? Still looking.

With the same full name and birth date? Pretty likely.

it does happen. 1 of me can drive, 1 of me can't.

If the shooter actually was supporting the Republicans (to some extent at least), what could his motives have been? Force them to replace Trump by a more moderate candidate? "Help" overcome divisions inside the Republican party? Just personal grudges? Hard to believe a successful assassination would have actually helped the Republicans.

Anyway, being a registered member of a political party probably reveals less about their political opinions than one could assume.
