I agree with your point that most guys like the tacti-cool look of an AR and can't actually shoot for shit but that doesn't mean that everyone's in the same boat. An AR vs shoty/bolty/w/e is too big of a mismatch. I'm still picking an AR for defense

everyone around me likes .270 over 30-06, but i grew up hunting with a 30-06 m1 garand so im partial to them too. or a .243 if i just want a doe. most hunts tho are a 12 gauge slug because i only have time for a 1 hour swamp loop.

Dude, I was genuinely surprised when handcuffs gave me the sci-hub link yesterday. The last time I had heard of that site (in a conversation of others that I overheard) was all the way back in 2013 or 14, before it really took off. The debate was about the "security concerns" which prompted my university to block that site, the guys were debating about how made up and bogus those concerns are.

I have other channels of obtaining any proprietary/paywalled paper from any academic journal in my own field, as well as all adjacent fields, so throughout all those years, I never had a reason to look for alternatives. But maybe I'm just getting old and stuck in my ways while increasingly ignorant to the world around me.

I mean, if its an el salvadoran immigrant than primary name does not necessarily equal birth name. They try to use the social security name for primary, but that's not necessarily birth name even for US residents and definitely doesn't count whatever el salvador uses for records

Let's be clear: If somebody is trying to kill you from 100 feet away with an AR, and all you have is a shotgun, you're going to fucking die. Done. Assuming they have ANY proficiency whatsoever, you are DEAD. That's it. There are times shotguns and handguns are the most useful in self defense, or the defense of your family, friends, or neighbors. There are other times, however, when higher range and accuracy rifles are the best choice.
