It is a strategically smart move, yes. But it also reeks of hypocrisy while someone like Pence is the Vice President.

Like... imagine that tomorrow afternoon, Trump has a junk-food-induced heart attack and Pence becomes president - could anyone take his calls for a decriminalization of homosexuality seriously?

It is weaponized morality, but the weapon is blunt because the one wielding it, the Trump administration, has no moral authority, neither on the particular issue of gay rights nor in general.



Not saying it is a bad move - again, it is smart. But I dont think it will be nearly as effective as some seem to think.

He is a nice guy, but he holds quite a lot of hardline conservative views. For example, he supports "conversion therapy" for gays.

There certainly is a case to be made that he's not as bad as he is portrayed by liberal activists and news outlets, but claiming that "they hate him for no reason" is just ridiculous.

Criticizing his personal life and choices are out of line like his policy of not being alone with other women. That's his and his wife's choice and business but his far right views are relevant as he is a politician and that affects others or at least can if he ever gets more power and control.

As usual I'm more in the middle. He's worse than conservatives will admit nationally but he's also just pretty much a typical robot Republican with strong religious views so hardly anything we haven't dealt with for decades in one way or another and not some death to all homos type of person some on the left claim
