and I'll just say it again, mainstream Democrat is not mainstream liberal. Democrats are not a liberal party. They are more liberal than Republicans, but still on average fall to the right of the American public.
So your argument is built on the notion that the entire political system of the U.S. is systematically out of whack with public sentiment...
What you're saying boils down to Biden, at the same time, sitting at the 33% quantile of a left-right scale for elected officials and at around the median of the "true" ideological coordinate system.
