Senate intel isn't equipped to investigate this matter like federal prosecutors and the FBI. I also won't be surprised if the case for conspiracy isn't based more on circumstantial evidence, because we're never going to extradite Kilimnik or any other Russians. I also wonder how willing the government will be in compromising sources and methods in order to prosecute certain individuals.



Policy wise Trump has been fairly tough on Russia, but rhetorically he's been a wilted flower. That's still a mystery to me...Trump can lash out against basically anyone, but the one area where he's stayed disciplined is on Putin.

Some more realistic form of kompromat is most likely. I don't think the other theories adequately explain Trump's affinity for Putin.

in what regard? the sanctions against them were forced upon trump, he did not demand or initiate them, he spoke out against them several times, and he even defied congress for months before finally implementing them. he also publicly announced several times that he'd consider lifting them for small concessions on syria or ukraine for example.

i know the "trump has been tough on russia" talking point is quite popular amongst apologists, but i'm really interested to learn how YOU think he was.

keep in mind he is often at odds with his own administration over matters concerning russia, he's been opposed every step of the way to act against russia and the actions his administration have taken weren't initiated by him - but tbh he doesn't look like one to initiate much of anything
