It's not common sense it's SWJ bullshit. Medical research & tech has really ramped up in almost every sphere, leading to better cancer, hiv, heart surgery, etc. It never had anything to do with who was being affected and had way more to do with available tech and if the science caught up.

Cancer funding has exploded now compared to 40 years ago not because of some dumb fuck theories of who it affects but because now as we are making more strides in new biotech and immuno tech we are finally able to actually make some difference.
