Could very well be, I'm not sure. However, the point still stands. US health expectancy is not in line with their expenditure. Why continue investing that much when the return is bad?

Because we are taking up the costs your the other countries' R&D. It's in the same vein that the American taxpayer funds, to a significant extent, the defense of Europe.

Do you know the split on advertising to doctors (pharma reps, dinners, etc) versus public commercials? Ive never seen a stat on it.

We had a bioethics class last semester and one of the lectures was on taking money, gifts, etc from pharmaceutical companies. Basically told us as long as you disclose what you take you can take whatever you want that they will give.

It was funny because one of my peers used to be a walmart sales guy and it was an instantly fireable offense to take anything from the companies whos products he was buying, so he was quite confused how doctors are held to a lower standard than walmart sales managers.
