Believe it or not, there's those of us who will not normalize his personality disorders.

if you're referring to narcissism you should as it's normal for a person in his position and Trump has had a career long habit of hyperbole and hype, would be strange to be surprised by it every time.

Trump might think it's still 2016 and his supporters might think that but the reality is unless he gets his shit together 2020 isn't going to be pretty for him

It's easy to get away with being a blow hard when you don't have a record to examine. He has a record, he is a politician, people want results. False claims and extreme exaggerations aren't nearly as effective when the people that matter (moderates) now have something to base a decision on other than benefit of the doubt

nevermind, misread

It's not normal for a president or any high profile politician to make absurd narcissistic claims like "I'm the smartest man alive". So, when you say normal for his position, are you referring to his previous job as a reality tv star and fake billionaire?

Lots of us think we are hot shit

but the lack of humility and self awareness at all times with him should worry everyone

This isn't the guy at the warehouse that tells full of shit stories every day, this isn't some random poster spending their day on the net boosting themselves up, this is the President of the United States and his inability to ever even pretend to be humble or self critical should be criticized by everyone that has any respect for the office and what it represents and the leadership the occupant should feel obligated to display

Well, I think most if not all presidents are narcissists, so the clarification is necessary. It's normal for a reality tv person to act like a ridiculous character. Not normal for a president, or even a Congressman.

Let's check in on the President after a rough Friday

Have a great new week Mr. President

Stop taking everything so seriously and literally,

I actually thought it was kind of a funny statement. He's making a joke.
God forbid we have a president that laughs at himself, deflects some bullshit, and shows some self-confidence.

Also, it is sort of funny how the longer we're subject to a Trump presidency, the more the Trump cult(and supporters) agree with the characterization the rest of us had of him during the campaign. It's revisionist history to pretend you all thought he was as bad as you now admit.

You mean characterizations like "literally Hitler", "will crash the stock market within one week", "will transform the country into an authoritarian dictatorship" or "Putin's puppet"? Those characterizations were and still are way overblown.

For my part, I'm not feeling guilty of revisionist history. I dont have a problem admitting that in 2016 and early 2017, I overestimated Trump's self-control and his strategical abilities. I really thought that he would eventually, perhaps after some trial-and-error, settle into a maybe bumpy but nonetheless steady/stable modus operandi.

Others don't speak for me I speak for myself. I've never called people Hitler other than Hitler

I care far more about what a President says and how he/she acts and reacts than I do those that criticize him.

Nope... just the factual characterizations of his character, intelligence, discipline, knowledge base, behavior, and many other things. Most of the defense of Trump now consists of "yeah, he's this or that, but the economy is doing well", or "yeah, he's being a huge idiot, and it's hurting him politically, but what about the judges?" and all other sorts of concessions that were not made during the campaign.

Perhaps. For my part, I've always said that I dont like his antics, but agree with most of his policies, and also that the policies matter more to me than the optics of his presidency. Nothing of this has changed due to the recent shutdown episode. What did indeed take a hit is my confidence in Trump being able to pull off his policy goals, and in him being able to get reelected in 2020.
