China sent the Netherlands 1.3 million N95-type face masks. All of them are recalled, Dutch health ministry announced, citing poor quality in design and filter functionality. Doctors and nurses who treat critically ill #Covid19 patients almost used them

What's your prediction, lol?

I have no clue. I don't have as much faith in these systems as you do. We have flu vaccines and treatments and still have seasons like 2017-2018 and this is an old problem.

What if a vaccine or treatment is discovered and it is trademarked and made very expensive?

I think the only viable way the US stays up and running and stay safe is the S. Korea model of testing quickly and isolation. That means tRUmps statement of 5 minute result is part way there(is this even real?).. Needs at home and quick results and check ins with HCP team.
Not perfect but better than 4 month economy shut down.

Is there anywhere near as much effort, money and brainpower going into the yearly flu vaccinations as there currently is for coronavirus?
With dozens of teams and firms working on a vaccine simultaneously, chances are that different types of vaccine will come out at roughly the same time. Chances are that at least one of them is effective. And as I said: for the subsequent years, developing a vaccine will be much easier since there will be work to build on.

Simple answer? Lynchings.
Long answer: the public pressure right now is so big that no one would get away with this shit. If it's a US based company, there would probably exist some ancient wartime-provision similar to the DPA that allows Trump to seize the product. China is running a PR campaign anyway, they would happily play the benevolent savior. I cant imagine a European biotech company trying to pull off something like this.

once summer hits not as many people will be watching, and bull shit will be pulled.

just wait until the "stock piling of supplies" after this dies down. it will be Halliburton in Iraq all over again. charging hospitals and every other utility 2-3x what they should cost due to increased demand. on tax payer dollars and/or from the massive amount of money the hospitals will charge for all of this care in the coming months.

Fact.. If tRUmp could think that far ahead. He would have Kuschner start a Co. and his own family would be the Haliburton of ventilators. The gov't open checkbook will skyrocket those prices obviously

Perhaps, yes. For the little things like ventilators and protective gear, there might be price gouging to some extent. But skinned was referring to an actual vaccine. Which would be a big fucking deal, and no, the world will not accept charging ridiculous prices for it.

This is so front and center that if any corp tried making a killing by gouging on a vaccine they would get crucified. It would be a historically monumental bad PR move.

Meanwhile, in Australia:

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/mar/30/astrophysicist-gets-magnets-stuck-up-nose-while-inventing-coronavirus-device

An Australian astrophysicist has been admitted to hospital after getting four magnets stuck up his nose in an attempt to invent a device that stops people touching their faces during the coronavirus outbreak.

Quote
Dr Daniel Reardon, a research fellow at a Melbourne university, said he placed two magnets inside his nostrils, and two on the outside. When he removed the magnets from the outside of his nose, the two inside stuck together. Unfortunately, the researcher then attempted to use his remaining magnets to remove them. “At this point, my partner who works at a hospital was laughing at me,” he said. “I was trying to pull them out but there is a ridge at the bottom of my nose you can’t get past.

“After struggling for 20 minutes, I decided to Google the problem and found an article about an 11-year-old boy who had the same problem. The solution in that was more magnets. To put on the outside to offset the pull from the ones inside.
“As I was pulling downwards to try and remove the magnets, they clipped on to each other and I lost my grip. And those two magnets ended up in my left nostril while the other one was in my right. At this point I ran out of magnets.”

Before attending the hospital, Reardon attempted to use pliers to pull them out, but they became magnetised by the magnets inside his nose.
“Every time I brought the pliers close to my nose, my entire nose would shift towards the pliers and then the pliers would stick to the magnet,” he said. “It was a little bit painful at this point.
“My partner took me to the hospital that she works in because she wanted all her colleagues to laugh at me.
