don't you just understand irony?
Where would we be if our culture wasn't constantly adapting? still in it's witch burning stages of old Salem?
Don't you think that Western society has enough strength and resiliency to handle a little Middle Eastern flavoring too? Some Ka-bob and curry along with pizza and tacos, and smoked herring. Jesus, you'd think we were giving the keys to the good car to the refugees or something.
Kebab, curry and tacos have nothing to do with human rights. Those are harmless goodies we get from different cultures and i don't mind having that kind of diversity at all. What concerns me are cultural values that are against human rights, such as misogyny, homophobia and the likes. Even when i identify myself as a liberal, i'm legitimately concerned about the cultural issues that might ensue. People are unfortunately prisoners of their own cultures, and i have no difficulty of imagining Western values being viewed as decadent by some.
Yes i understand irony about the Native American, but you forget to mention the savagery that Mayans or Aztecs took part in for example. Not that the conquistadors were that much better, but modern day Europe is quite far from that. In some parts of the world people still burn witches and that's exactly the undesirable sort of values.
