Children sometimes throw tantrums when parents make them eat their vegetables, but the solution is not to give in to their demands.

I like the analogy

The state is the caring parent who knows best and blacks are the ignorant children which need decisions made for them.

It's pretty spot on how most privileged lefty whites actually think.

Pretty sure the best predictor as to whether someone is unvaccinated is if they are white and Republican.

The government has never, to my knowledge, compelled a business to hire minorities unless they were specifically working for the federal government.

That's not how I understood the situation to be in your country. I mean, isn't there like affirmative action in your country? Racial quotas etc.

Also, I will pre-emptively appreciate you not calling me stupid. I am not from your country, so my understanding of your country's practices is not perfect.

and that comes down to the same principal. You can predicate your freedom of association on anything, so the federal government can predicate their contracts on affirmative action. Don't like it? Don't work for the government.

I believe freedom of association is a right given to individuals only. Governments don't have such a right. They are public entities meant to serve the general public. They cannot refuse employment to people for any discriminatory reasons. In other words, the government should not be allowed to have hiring practices that favor black applicants over white applicants. This is discrimination.

Racial quotas were deemed unconstitutional in the late 1970s, and so we don't have racial quotas in the US.

Institutions may utilize affirmative action practices, which merely allow them to consider race among all total considerations with respect to things like college admissions. The Courts have historically treated affirmative action in this capacity as constitutional because the state/colleges have a compelling reason in benefiting from diverse populations.

govts dont have rights, they give rights. the concept of inalienable rights is a first world failure of perspective.

That's a decent one, so is being Black, or a rich white liberal woman who shops at Whole Foods.

Not for the most part. Not all rules are created equal though are they.

So if a college wants to take race into consideration when determining admission, and they prefer to admit white applicants over black ones, this will also be constitutional?

What is this "compelling reason" you speak of, and what benefit does a college get from "diverse populations"? What if a college thinks it will benefit more by admitting mainly white students, will this be Ok with the courts, too?

I disagree.

Nice to hear that you think your rights are given to you by your government. I am sure that a lot of slaves thought they only had rights given to them by their masters.

Just sayin.

I got the vaccine because my wife works in a hospital and it hit people at my work like a ton of bricks. I don't want to spend three to five weeks at home unpaid.
