"Garbage Fire" is the best definition of this "story".

Nobody cares about privacy here anymore than they would on Trump's tax returns, Clinton's emails, or scandalous news about any politician. What matters to us is what the information alleges. The crime / non-crime of an irrelevant shop owner is completely beneath public notice.

If we learned that Trump was secretly selling out the country to the Chinese, we'd be calling for his head, whether or not the recording was obtained illegally. And for good reason, how we come by information doesn't matter to us when evaluating matters of public concern.

Unless it's Manning or Snowden, amirite?

Do you really believe that Hillary Clinton, who has read more classified material than you or I ever will, did not know that "C" meant confidential?

So Hillary allegedly lied about her knowledge of classification markings?

Maybe she did know what those markings meant, and was pretending to be ignorant in order to help her story. That's not necessarily a lie the FBI can prosecute if they didn't find real evidence of her knowledge.

Hunter Biden's not a public official. And how information gets into the public square is of course relevant, especially if it's the president's lawyer who was the one passing it to a news organization. Or, if a foreign government were to hack the Trump Org and release a bunch of information, that would be a relevant part of the story.

I don't think anyone is interested in Hunter Biden, they're interested in whether this implicates Joe Biden.

It is relevant only insofar as it requires validation. If the emails are genuine that's really the end of it.

If the shop-owner did something illegal, he should have his day in court, as Manning did. But as with Manning, no one is going to pretend that the cat is still in the bag, once information is released we are going to act on it.

a plurality (at least) of people i’d wager are in favor of pardoning Snowden (leaks helped to expose government spying of citizens). Manning is a different case (part of the leaks put US forces at risk) but she had her sentence commuted already anyway

This is about as plausible as Flynn's "I don't remember a conversation from a week or two ago". Perhaps you understand why Barr is so reluctant to press charges.

But nobody actually acted, on Collateral Murder, except to punish the person who exposed a crime.
