so the fact that he addresses social problems yet still makes money off of the rich makes you angry? He isn't selling his designer clothes to the people that he's rapping to, you don't see the separation there. The way he's almost laughing at the system? Donald trump is a narcissistic fascist and he will lie to your face and know that you know he's lying and not care.

Im assuming that you don't follow Kanye very closely. He is trying to sell his shitty clothing brand to anyone that will buy it. Go listen to the song "New Slaves" off of Yeezus and tell me that the artist owning a clothing brand sits well with you. My guess is you'll see him as hypocritical just like I do. Im not sure why you ask if it makes me angry, im not angy at all, i simply think it makes Kanye a massive hypocrite. He talks about people being owned by rich businessmen who have turned the public into slaves through consumerism, then turns around and does the same thing? Even if its some big laugh at the system he's still a hypocrite. Anyhow, my entire post was meant as nothing more than a zinger, which should have been read something like this: Kanye=hypocrite, politicians=hypocrites, Kanye=perfect fit as a politician.

who is he calling out for being slaves? the people buying the shit right? He's telling the people that the music is for that buying the shit makes them slaves to the fashions right. now he's a fairly smart guy. and he's pretty thoughtful with his poetry. He's selling this shit at the same time he's telling his peole not to be slaves to it. OK doesn't that make you think that maybe he's targeting a different people with his hig high priced shit? Could it be that he is making slaves out of the people who are used to making slaves out of his people?

I think he has soul and trump has none, Kanye cares about other people not so with trump. I don't think the two are that similar..I'm not meaning to argue or get too deep it's just my take on it. Plus I believe trump is poison

I get what you mean, and maybe you're right. I still find iy hypocritical because if he's targeting the rich he should know that his name will cause many poor black people to want to buy his clothes. He cant control who buys it at all. I also wasnt trying to compare Trump and Kanye, it was a coincidence that i posted about Kanye in a Trump thread.

1. he's stated openly he doesn't set the prices for his apparel.
2. he despises sneaker culture and manufactured scarcity which is a big problem in high fashion. when he talks about his shoes going for 10k on ebay he's using that as proof of demand for his product, it's a message to the companies to give him better contracts, with the end goal of satisfying his need for design and to deliver more products to the people at better prices.
3. new slaves is about more than this. it talks about racism (broke nigga racism and rich nigga racism), neo-slavery through private prisons and the drug war, slavery to materialism, corporations trying to buy him, and the issues he's had trying to enter the fashion industry ("they wasn't satisfied unless i picked the cotton myself")

i think you've misunderstood him to call him a hypocrite for selling products to what he calls the new slaves. those two things are in fact separate, he's against the slavery to materialism which is a biproduct of many factors, not materialism itself. he's saying he sees the blood on the leaves.
