The left is just weaponizing the justice system. Aka... cheating. LOL

This is just a right wing talking point to try to illegitimatize a legitimate conviction.

Didn't Trump already say he was going to literally weaponize the justice system to jail his opponents if elected?

Incorrect, the left is not at all in fact weaponizing the justice system

its hilarious seeing the right cry about weaponization of the justice system when they literally impeached a dude over a blowjob to win an election.

Incapable of intelligible thought

The weaponization has a lot more to do with the largest technology companies skewing algorithms which in turn changes how hundreds of millions of people digest that information. Including people who would be amongst the jurors.

They’ve basically run a hate campaign on Trump for over 8 years and they are LOSING because almost every American can see what apparently you cannot?

Imagine you are running for POTUS and woman come out of the woodwork and say, “you abused me!” 10-15-20 years ago? They WAITED until it was politically and personally more beneficial to themselves.

A rational person using logic alone can see that it has been a concerted effort to destroy Trumps reputation. Started with “Russian collusion” and now look where it’s at? Pornstars?

Let me reiterate that I don’t support Trump nor his actions but if this is how low the democrat party has to go to “steal votes”. Good job Democrats! Good luck in 2028 when you can’t pin your shortcomings on “Trump” anymore. :bouncy:

Edit: Same thing goes for Republicans who blame Biden for everything. Pure idiocracy lol

is there anyone here who thinks trump didn't actually break any laws? or is it that he did break them but he shouldn't be held accountable?

help me understand please

Which law was Trump supposed to have broken?
There's no law against making hush money payments. There is a law against using campaign funds on hush money payments, the same irrespective test the FEC uses to say you can't pay for haircuts with campaign funds, and there's even a precedent as it was set when John Edwards solicited donations to pay money to his mistress, and was charged with illegal use of campaign funds. Since Trump paid out of his own pocket, not those of donors, he obeyed the FEC rules. He was convicted on a derivative crime that requires an underlying crime, except the underlying crime didn't exist. Its like someone being arrested for conspiracy to commit tax fraud when he actually paid his taxes lawfully and on time.

It required the prosecutor and judge in NY to themselves conspire to weaponize the justice system by constructing this legal fiction and ignoring all the wild logical flaws it would have. If you actually held personal expenditures to be campaign expenses under the prosecutor's theory, you'd have to lock up every democrat who buys a bagel. And when campaign finance charges are supposed to be minor misdemeanors that result in small fines, trying to twist them into 34 felony counts is like charging someone with a thousand counts of jaywalking for every step taken and then giving them the death penalty as a first-time-repeat-offender. The example exists in the same jurisdiction: Hillary Clinton's campaign illegally misused campaign funds by funding the Steele Dossier, hiding it from public scrutiny by falsifying the business documentation of those funds as "legal expenses" to Perkins Coie. That mundane conspiracy and business fraud resulting in Hillary's campaign being found in violation and sentenced to an $8000 fine. Which is how such violations are supposed to work. In Trump's case, he didn't even commit a misdemeanor or anything else that would incur a small fine.

I don’t think anyone thinks he hasn’t broken any laws. He’s a rich business man, it’s impossible to become as rich as him without some shady efforts and bending laws/rules.

It’s how now all of a sudden that he’s challenging a political party, and no longer donating to their party as of 2010-2011 when he primarily donated to democrats, that they’re all of a sudden taking action against him and the timing and way they’re trying to take action.

I’ll reiterate what I said earlier…

Trump misclassified a book keeping record for these “hush money” payments as “legal expenses” which is considered falsifying business records which is a misdemeanor and has a statute of limitations of 2 years. The payments happened in 2017, and we’re talking $130K.

They found a way to stretch out a misdemeanor and upgrade the falsifying business records misdemeanors to class E felonies by saying he committed the falsifying business records to “commit or conceal a crime”… what crime are they saying, a crime of illegal campaign contributions to benefit his campaign by not allowing negative stories to impact him. One could argue the payments weren’t connected to campaign at all and intended to protect his character as a large business owner, but that’s kinda off topic..

The statute of limitations on a felony is 5 years… again this happened in 2017, so that means these now “felonies” needed brought forward by 2022. They were brought forward in 2023.

How were they able to be brought forward in 2023 past the statute of limitations? Well they found extremely rare loopholes such as a “tolling” executive order due to Covid 19 which briefly paused the statute of limitations. They also argued that they found “fraud” which allows you to extend the statute of limitations and as well by saying this was part of a “continuous scheme” which again can extend statute of limitations…

Soooo in summary, they took a misdemeanor that’s past its 2 year statute of limitation and stretched it out and turned it into a felony that’s past its 5 year statute of limitations, and then tried a former president and likely next elected president, in one of the bluest counties in the country and turned each payment and classification into a separate felony, and found him unanimously guilty… come on man

To add onto that, the DA and Judge of this trial are extremely outspoken against Trump. The judge has donated money to Joe Biden’s campaign in 2020, donated to the progressive turnout project, donated to a group called “stop republicans” and other democratic groups via ActBlue. New York state, following the American Bar Association's guidance, prohibits judges from making contributions to political organisations or candidates... yet Judge Merchan had his complaint on his donations dismissed with “caution”.

The judges daughter is President of a firm for digital campaign fundraising and advertising for the Democratic Party and has received millions of dollars from various democratic politicians, including New York governor Kathy Hochul who personally sent her $700K, while Judge Merchan daughters firm is in Chicago, IL.

It’s just insane to me. If you think this judge will give Trump a fair sentencing as well, you’re crazy.

I just say it how it is. I’m not a political person whatsoever. Only vote locally. Never voted for a POTUS and I’m 34. I type out what I do to add context and to show that I’m fallible. My opinion is just that. An opinion.

I’m calling you out directly because all you share is meme’s and snippets you NEVER say how you objectively view this. You call other people out for “where they got their news from” but we all know where you got yours from?

The people in this forum don’t care about Trump or Biden. They both suck. They are both incompetent to be POTUS. We all know this but it’s you who thinks this is some sort of “victory”. Give me a break bro do you think your native Canada is better off when the US political landscape looks like a circus? No.

Is it because you are Canadian that you enjoy seeing the US political process being tarnished? I don’t get how someone from Canada can sit all day like you bashing Trump and then act like you aren’t “patronizing others”.

Maybe type out a paragraph of how you view things instead of just copy pasta from your favorite news source…

Uses “Google” to get his news. Wow now I know why. You can’t even fathom that the articles listed at the top of “Google” are the most dishonest and like I just said Google and Meta were grilled for this on capital hill.

The dumbest most uniformed people get there news from the top of a “Google search” “Apple news” “CNN” “Fox”.

Google was funded by DARPA at the same time they funded Facebook. The whole point was to mine “human beings thought processes” and use advanced algorithms to social engineer the masses. Not a conspiracy either because they convinced billions of people to willingly give them all the “data” they would need to manipulate/influence human consciousness .DARPA lab rats always make me laugh

I’m a DARPA lab rat too but I stopped eating the government cheese a long time ago my friend.

And again, its all out the window when there's no underlying crime. They had to butcher the statute of limitations, overcharge derivatives, made a total mockery of the evidentiary rules with Stormy Daniels, etc etc, none really matters if its all premised on a legal fiction. Its precisely on-topic that Trump actually obeyed the FEC rules on campaign finance when he paid hush money out of his own pocket, instead of using donor funds like John Edwards did. Besides complying with the text of the FEC's definition of campaign expenses, the government cannot construct a catch 22 where a legally allowed expense is simultaneously a personal expense that is illegal to pay with campaign funds and a campaign expense that is illegal to pay with personal funds. Any reasonable judge would have instantly thrown out of the case purely on the basis that the uncharged underlying crime is not a crime, besides the constitutional infringement of due process of prosecuting a derivative crime that assumes an unchargeable underlying act, a clear violation of the 5th amendment. Instead this judge allowed the jurors to impose their own legal theories (including contradictory theories between jurors) with no due process, which of course is also another violation of due process when they're not supposed to be allowed to make conclusions of law, only facts.

At some point the question becomes which parts of the constitution weren't shredded here. I mean, Judge Merchan isn't ordering active US military troops to quarter themselves at Mar-a-Lago is he?

CNN Senior Legal Analyst Describes How The Trump Conviction Was A Political Hit Job

1. "The judge donated money... in plain violation of a rule prohibiting New York judges from making political donations—to a pro-Biden, anti-Trump political operation."

2. Alvin Bragg boasted on the campaign trail in an overwhelmingly Democrat county, “It is a fact that I have sued Trump over 100 times.”

3. "Most importantly, the DA’s charges against Trump push the outer boundaries of the law and due process."

4. "The charges against Trump are obscure, and nearly entirely unprecedented. In fact, no state prosecutor — in New York, or Wyoming, or anywhere — has ever charged federal election laws as a direct or predicate state crime, against anyone, for anything. None. Ever."

5. The DA inflated misdemeanors past the statute of limitations and "electroshocked them back to life" by alleging the falsification of business records was committed 'with intent to commit another crime.'

6. "Inexcusably, the DA refused to specify what those unlawful means actually were — and the judge declined to force them to pony up — until right before closing arguments. So much for the constitutional obligation to provide notice to the defendant of the accusations against him in advance of trial."

7. "In these key respects, the charges against Trump aren’t just unusual. They’re bespoke, seemingly crafted individually for the former president and nobody else."

8. "The Manhattan DA’s employees reportedly have called this the “Zombie Case” because of various legal infirmities, including its bizarre charging mechanism. But it’s better characterized as the Frankenstein Case, cobbled together with ill-fitting parts into an ugly, awkward, but more-or-less functioning contraption that just might ultimately turn on its creator."
