California Republicans got all but wiped out in the midterms anyway. The state GOP is in shambles, and it will probably take at least a generation for them to recover. And if you look at cultural and demographic trends, there is no chance for California to become significantly less blue over the next decades anyway. The only problem for the GOP is in the House, where they really need at least some seats from populous California to regain control.
