If a country is dependant on Israel to exist than it probably shouldn't exist, apart from that I don't see why how interconnected the world has become matters in this context.

Sure nukes are involved, and Israel has the same motivation not the use them as anyone else. If they can't defend their own country with the looming threat of the US scaring off their enemies, that sounds a them problem.
