Correct, you're one of several strawman enthusiasts in pard. its a disease of the intellectually lazy. easier to make assumptions than ask for clarification. i do it too sometimes, im just not a coward so im willing to admit im wrong if someone corrects me. even in a completely anonymous forum that takes more courage than most people have, and it takes very little.

the problem here is we were on the cusp of real progress with the passing of the Abraham accords, and post October 7th i'm more upset with Israel's response than anything else. they took the bait, i said they would before they even loaded up the first bomb, and it happened. im just glad they havent been even worse, as i suspected they would be. hamas cant be defeated by bombs, or even occupation. they must be defeated economically. but where we sit today occupation is required for that economic solution. it wasnt on october 6th, it is today. the only realistic alternative is for Israel to create a DMZ and let Gaza rot as it sits today.

but hey, maybe im wrong, i'm happy to listen to any info im missing from those not scared to put it forward.

"Strawman enthusiasts" in this context meaning people who disagree with your own ridiculous strawmen arguments/framings? I'm okay with that. Courage to post on pard, okay sure...

Yes chances are you are wrong if you think you've come up with a solution for a decades long ethnoreligious conflict which you've probably only thought about the few times it pops into the news cycle.

My solution is western countries cut all ties with Israel and let them figure the situation out on their own, maybe they would play a little bit more nicely if they didn't have Uncle Sam and friends standing behind them. Whatever happens then is up to God, he can choose who gets the holy land :hail:

Great solution to bad we live in the 21st century and the entire planet is interconnected in ways no one ever thought possible and this isn't the Crusades there's nuclear weapons involved despite belief "no one will use them".

i will give the palestine supporters one point, israel and jews as a group do enjoy a crazy amount of support and everything happening to a jew gets blown up to epic proportions

the same western politicians, who cant even deport illegal immigrant rapists, have produced statements on how hamas supporters should be deported

yikes ^_^

you are not wrong at all, sending the military after them is like attacking a hill of ants with a hammer

unfortunately western antisemites and liberals cant stop sending money to hamas so they can stay afloat

the place needs to be cut off from all external financing until a change happens from within

international law and experts disagree ("Despite the 2005 Israeli disengagement from Gaza, the United Nations, international human rights organisations, and the majority of governments and legal commentators consider the territory to be still occupied by Israel...") - yes i know, all nazis and anti-semites of course - but whatever you prefer to call your daily violations of palestinian rights, whatever you rationalised your apartheid policies as, it doesn't change the simple conclusion:

your current slaughtering of innocent civilians will inevitably create a new generation of radicals hating your guts. if nothing fundamentally changes (genocide or finally ending the illegal occupation), no walls, no extra-super-cereal-for-real-this-time occupation / blockade / disenfranchisement / oppression / apartheid system will prevent the aforementioned and well documented by history turn of events.

your desperate bickering over words in order to delude yourself doesn't change the cruel reality about life in gaza - about who dictates what they can and can't build, what they can and can't have, which resources they can and can't exploit, how much of their own water they get to drink, how much medical supplies they can receive, where they can and can't go...

your silly "israel doesn't have to open its borders" line conveniently ignores the fact that a significant part of gaza's border is the mediterranean sea, not israel. so do they control that, are they free to trade then? no, because in reality YOU control that border as well. so much for that dishonest occupier talking point... seems like you simply can't be honest about anything. let me guess, it's your "bad english" that will have to serve as an excuse for being caught in a lie again?

exactly fender, israel should allow open trade so hamas can load up on weapons even more and start an even bigger war with big time equipment

my god, this is so dumb

you really think the jews have nothing better to do than to build absurd defenses and guard them 24/7 for fun

the borders could be open.....unfortunately that is not possible

Israel spent $23.5b in 2022 on it's military. The US provided $3.3b. the idea that western aid is all that keeps Israel afloat is dated. their emergent tech industries and drone business means they might not need aid much longer anyways. it could be that they dont need it today. obviously they'll take it, but need it? to the point that they have to make major changes if it stops? no imo.

in any case Iran is likely the only country that truly wants israel gone that has the power to try. the rest dont, and are actually allied with israel against iran in the bigger picture.

remember when europe said "no more russian gas", putin didnt just stockpile gas he found a new buyer. us aid stops to israel (something im 100% ok with btw) and they find new buyers and supporters.

this is good tho, we disagree, but i like that you put something forward. its dark and i think wrong, but i like it. good talk, im glad u opened up.

will never work. my grandpa as a kid raised coon dogs. back then you'd stick a coon in a barrel with a young dog. even if the dog lost an eye they'd spend the rest of their life living to kill coons. they'd go insane at the mere scent of a coon.

never did he barrel a dog and it made friends with a coon. you lock them in together and you'll never have peace.

"Right now" This is the lie not much people are falling in.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Yitzhak_Rabin

National religious conservatives and Likud party leaders believed that withdrawing from any "Jewish" land was heresy.[4] The Likud leader and future prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, accused Rabin's government of being "removed from Jewish tradition [...] and Jewish values"

For the dumb dumbs:

Key historical events (recent) leading to this crisis:

Key takeaway: Appeasing them doesn't work

This is a different issue, in the west bank and has nothing to do with Gaza.
But since I know what happened when we abandoned Gaza I strongly against changing anything in the west bank.

I can tell you one thing, living under constant threat of rockets is no life.
We left them alone, they could have become successful country but they cherish death and destruction, and its not just in Israel.
Its in Iran, Iraq, Syria, afghanistan eth, its a cultural aspect the west can’t relate to and do not understand.
