And just look at all the fake news surrounding Kavanaugh. That was a real shitshow. Its clear that much of the fake news is a product of the competitive media's rush to publish before anyone else can scoop their story, where fact checking it would both take time and potentially clue in others to scoop them- all that coupled with bias and a desire to believe falsehoods that support their worldview. But when the Kavanaugh timetables were so short and on a deadline with little wiggle room, the media's fact checking was just thrown completely out the window and they would publish 4chan fanfics they got emailed.
