Well, really that happens with any media outlet or story that reaches this popularity. Usually lawyers will approach you, they know there is money to be made. It doesn't really matter on your background or wealth, as long as it's a popular story.

And if you have the option, why wouldn't you want to defend yourself against someone that tried to defame your name and potentially placed you in harm's way. You can't really hold that against them.

I'd be pissed. You not only put me in harm's way with a false narrative, but also my family, classmates and school.

I am sure many do, but its only going to be a percentage, and 60% chose not to vote at all, so its a percentage of a percentage.
If you have a broad enough platform you can create a mandate for anything.

Lets put it this way. If Trump gives up the wall hes going to gain 0 voters. Moderates, like you say, are indifferent and Dem leaners have already chosen sides.
