sometimes i think that, and sometimes i think back to childhood and remember people generally agreeing more. and i think the "let's try and see what happens" approach was more common. look at war on drugs, crime, etc. tossing shit at a wall knowing it might be 2 decades before you even know if it will work. now in the internet age someone "breaks the story" about some minor detail of a massive plan and everyone second guesses. worse yet if u have 100 people you'll get 10 groups of 10 that all have a gripe with something different. i really think the internet broke us, but we'll see in 50 years if it shakes out.

The wall is supposed to be to keep people out. It shouldn't matter whether its built out of concrete, slat scraps or fugging lasers, so long as its a non-trivial barrier that keeps all but the most determined attackers from crossing and creates a choke point for them to be identified and alert a response to catch them. A wire fence that could be bypassed with wire cutters wouldn't do the job, but steel slat fencing would. Getting hung up on whether its a fence or a wall is pedantic
