He has to put up at least some resistance to a budget bill without wall funding, otherwise, his base will tear him a new one.

the same people are also the most stringent anti-govt spending people, imo. and have been told by snarky leftists "you guys say u dont like welfare but you wont step in to help out if these people can't eat" and similar on every single issue of govt spending. over and over the left claims its impossible to get a damn thing done without more and more govt. this is a satisfying moment for those right wingers im sure. even if they only ever secure 5-10% of the initial funds needed they'll feel like super heroes.

10% of 5bn would be 500 million dollars... they only raised 5.8 million during the first four days; so at the current rate, they'd need roughly a year to get to that 10% mark...
