Can you show me in the Bogie quote I responded to where this distinction was made by him?

The cultural left really is that repulsive.
Which also brings me to the question which was touched on by various users: "what is the way forward for the GOP/the political right?"
My opinion: Trumpism already pointed in the rough direction: mellow on the Christian conservative stuff, move to the right on cultural issues, move responsibly to the left on economic issues.
snipa put it quite succinctly:

but we're calling the party wanting to throw piles of cash at mentally ill people, homeless people, bankrupt people, and the impoverished generally by redistributing it from people with a yacht that fits inside their yacht following a fundamentally indecent ideology.
not much face validity there.
Classical leftism ("take from the rich, give to the poor") is a decent ideology. Unfortunately, it is increasingly taking a backseat to the toxic modern version of leftism, which was in fact coopted by corporate and 0.1-percenter interests. Modern leftism ostensibly says "western culture is sexist, racist and xenophobic to the core, there is nothing great about it, our societies have no moral right to self-affirmation". Ostensibly, modern leftism seeks to create a more equitable and pluralistic society. However, the true goal of this kind of policies is to deconstruct national identities, undermine national sovereignty and promote globalism. It seeks to create atomized societies in which deep divisions over race, gender, religion and habitus distract the plebs from the class conflict; societies in which there exists no broader solidarity or sense of community; and in which people are nothing but apathetic, docile cogs in the machine, such that global corporations can play off people and countries against each other and are able to squeeze them for every last bit of profit margin on behalf of their billionaire owners.
