Pew Research suggests that Conservatives have only slightly more antipathy for Liberals than vice versa. So in reality both hate each other and root against each other almost equally, even at the expense of the country in a lot of cases.

The partisanship in this country is at extremely toxic levels, and I don't see how we fix it unless we undergo another massive, unifying focusing event like 9/11 (let's hope this doesn't happen) or see the collapse of one of the current major political parties and a subsequent reform. I thought that this might happen with Trump's populism, success in the Midwest, and favor with blue collar workers, but as his presidency has progressed, he has increasingly just toed the Republican party line.

but thats what the left does holy shit

privileged RINOs/lefties like icepeon would rather their future be ruined so they can “win” an e-argument, all due to orange man bad derangement syndrome

it really is a sickness. then again icepeon is the kind of wierdo who has wanted the US President to not succeed for over 12 years now. that takes a certain kind of loser, anti-American mentality only seen in really hateful, bitter, out-of-touch specimens

So what the turd in chief aka President Individual-1 did today ? Lets check

Donald Trump was recorded off camera saying "get me out of here" to an aide at the end of the G20 summit in Argentina, as he walked off stage even as other world leaders gathered for a photo.

But according to another Pew study, liberals find it harder and more stressful to talk about politics with people they disagree with:

Over the past two years, Americans have become more likely to say it is “stressful and frustrating” to have political conversations with those they disagree with. The change in opinions has come largely among Democrats: 57% now say that talking about politics with people they disagree with is stressful and frustrating, up from 45% two years ago.

so the antipathy level might be comparable, but conservatives seem to be better at dealing with opposing opinions on political topics. this indicates that these days, in the age of Trump, it might actually be the liberals who are more ideologically entrenched.

I don't think it's much ideological entrenchment as it is disdain for Trump and his supporters. Conservatives had slightly higher antipathy for Liberals in 2017, but perhaps Liberals would have more if that same metric was assessed in 2018.

I've also seen evidence that suggests liberals are more likely to block or de-friend someone with opposing views. There's definitely some echo chamber type stuff going on with the Left. But I don't think it's ideological entrenchment. Leftist ideology is extremely muddled right now...I don't even know what ideas they would entrench themselves in collectively. I think a lot of that 12% increase comes down to disdain for Trump and his supporters specifically.

I actually think it's quite normal for the ideological side of the "out-party" to feel more pressured and under attack, and to therefore react more aggressively to opposing views, out of insecurity about one's own beliefs and worldview.

That sadistic attitude actually does exist for many Conservatives. They talk about liberal tears far too much to be healthy. Many revel more in the failure of Democrats or Trump critics than the success of the country.

Of course, I think a similar attitude exists on the left, particularly as it pertains to Trump, but I don't think it's quite as strong or as prevalent.

no idea what you're talking about...
