What is written on a piece of paper, be it the US constitution or words that affirm the authority of a monarch, are recommended guidelines at best and meaningless gaslighting at worst - what matters is how people act, both those in power and those under the nominal power of others. The US constitution didn't stop American's rights being tramped on during covid and they didn't stop the media from mass censoring "problematic" information. It also hasn't stopped the ongoing persecution of a US citizen named Donald Trump. There is only action and reaction. Action is tempered by the fear of reaction.
