This isn't smart, politically. Republicans have 2022 in the bag then this shit which will inevitably turn away more college educated white women who, despite the catastrophically bad performance of Democrats, put their freedom to slaughter babies over everything else.

I think that's a bit too melodramatic, but I agree with the general sentiment. This will shift the political debate to an issue which is more favorable for Dems than inflation, and it will help them close the enthusiasm gap a bit. It won't have a huge impact on the midterms, but it will imho hurt the GOP at the margins and blunt the red wave a bit. Not by a huge amount, but a little bit. I'm thinking the difference between the GOP winning 235 and 240 House seats or so.

eh it’s cynical but you’d be surprised. the “birthing persons” right to an abortion at 30-36 weeks pregnant is more important than many other factors that ruin the daily lives of everyone. remember this is a group (of lefties, media, hollywood, rinos, swamp demons etc - all weinstein, marx, mao, and slick willie worshippers) that is pro slaughter of viable organisms growing in a womb. but is against the death penalty or even solitary confinement of child molestors/child killers because it is, according them them, “inhumane and cruel” to punish these perpetrators

this will galvanize the left and squishy middle for sure. the Constitution is a racist document other than the amendments they like (which do not include the 1st-15th. the left hates #1 and #2 above all else, and they definitely hate the amendments that ended their ability to own humans as property). and nothing gets the lefties going like “racism”

now the case is apparently going to be ruled on in June, so that’s still an eternity until November.

One aspect that I hadn't considered so far is that overturning Roe turns every state election in any competitive state into a battle over abortion rights. This will probably galvanize the pro-life side as well, not just the pro-choicers. This is the big chance these voters have been waiting for for 50 years and they are gonna turn out in droves to ensure pro-life majorities in their state legislatures and governor's mansions.
