It might not even have been THAT specific article. I was reading tons of them when it happened. But I honestly don't have a horse in this issue, so I've really no reason to prevaricate.
I've been noticing that a lot lately. Couldn't do that back in the hard copy newspaper days.

people want 120 credit college educated police, people want more oversight, cameras on them at all times, less protection in cases of murder, etc. they dont want no police, and they arent going to push for that in the long run. its fantasy.
All well and good. Great ideas. However, that's what it looks like from our viewpoint with the police we have now.
Once we get you dream police force, time will pass a generation or two, and then the complaints with your dream police will start...and poof...slippery slope.
Research the conviction rates.
