I agree tbh, Trump's statement wasn't out of the norm. I have to concede that he did better than I expected in the summit. No foot in mouth yet, which is a good thing. A +1 on his scoreboard.

its a fairly good result, first contact made with no real plans made. good. neither Kim nor Trump should make solid plans without a lot of talks with their people. The eyerollingly predictable propaganda video that looked like it came from NK instead of the whitehouse was a cute touch for Trump's base. I see many conservatives from the Shapiro strain that aren't happy about that or lavish praise, but the actual tangible results are pretty ok by everyone i'd think. that article reads like a hit-piece, from title to end. if anything the skeptical perspective from the media should be on the non-specifics, propaganda video, and praise on Kim by trump. Not making bland concessions that we can pull off the table in a second problematic.

from my perspective tho, if the camps get shut down all of trump's praise in hindsight will just be him massaging the madman. if all we get is nukes off the table and camps stay open its not going to look as good.

Baby boomers destroyed the country by enlarging the government

Millenials could do it by electing Bernie and making the same mistakes

Is the country actually destroyed though? In some metrics the current generation is going to do worse, we know that. But living standards have still increased in most places.

The country is of course not destroyed. Not yet.

But if the public debt bubble bursts, if the welfare state/entitlements have to be cut because they simply cannot be paid for anymore, we're just weeks away from civil war. If it comes to this point, all the progress and wealth that were built up over almost a whole century will be washed away within a few months to years of all-out war of everyone against everyone else.

We went from taking an average of 8 years to pay off a home to 30 in a 20 year period.

perhaps we should rollback all of the EPA and OSHA standards and go back to making houses out of asbestos, single paned glass, linoleum floors that clog landfills, untreated lumber, and inexpensive low rated shingles.

also they used to have 8 year mortgages in 1998? i guess my parents 20 year mortgage they got as a result of putting their wedding cash in a large downpayment was highway robbery.
