Whether you are a good person is not fundamentally decided by ideology. I know many leftists who are, in my estimation, fundamentally decent people.

The ideology itself, though, especially as expressed in recent years, is toxic. It replaces truth with ideology in a way that we haven't seen since the rise of Communism. And as we know, every thesis gives rise to an antithesis. What will the antithesis of the modern left be?

My biased perception is that you're referring to a small minority of the left in the same way that leftists tend to overestimate what is a minority within the right. Both extreme ends of the spectrum are toxic in their own way, but they are ultimately minority positions.

Most Americans, including most people here in PaRD, don't exist at either extreme and are quite centrist. But, centrists are rather dull and boring from an entertainment perspective, so we'll see representations of the left being third-gender antifa rioters who demand veganism and the right being white supremacist Proud Boys who want to force women to be incubators.

Some 130 million people voted in this election. If either of those extreme examples were actually representative of the modern left or right we'd be in for a world of trouble.
