Gov't shutdown's are pointless from all perspectives. He's "shutting down" because dem's have the #Resist mantra. Crazy right?

he's drawing a hard line in the sand over the wall, the Dems have been in full on reeeesist mode since before he was even inaugurated.

so by your logic it took him 2 years for the reeeesist mantra to cause him to shut down the govt? that doesn't seem logical. he fucked up and didn't legislate a wall in when he had a semi-mandate and now thinks hardball will bring a contentious House to heel. that's trump's "secret negotiation tactic", walk away from the table act like the deal is dead and sit by the phone waiting for their hail mary offer. He tried it with Europe, they balked on his trade talks and NATO payments for the most part, then he had to beg them for a soybean order export so he wouldn't have to bail out farmers and look like a schmuck. He tried it with China and said it would cause them to lose so much they beg us to renegotiate, so far that's luke warm at best. Trump only thinks of business, and the Chinese are more than willing to starve their own people out of pride. They wont take losses their people will, something Trump can't conceptualize. maybe we get a yuge EU trade deal and a huge new Chinese trade deal with promises that they'll protect our domestic copyrights from getting knocked off. i'll just hold my breath and blame the democrats for everything until that happens, should be any time now.

Time has to elapse for him to get fed up? He needed some time of backstory to get what he wants (the wall). Would you rather he just say fuck it, i know they're going to resist me so i'm going to preemptively shut down the gov't anyway? Not very logical for Trump who isn't very logical to begin with.

I think Trump wants this wall badly, weather practical or not, for many reasons. His support base, ego, "building background", blah blah blah. Now that the midterms are over I think he's feeling comfortable to throw the kitchen sink at this.

above all, he must have realized that he has to get the funding for the wall through before the new congress with a democrat-controlled house is sworn in, so in this sense, the time is running out for him.

my point was that Trump has called out the Dems and their resist campaign since before he was officially POTUS. they've called his wall "racist", irresponsible, stupid, etc. for years. so if u think Trump is shutting down "because dem's have the #Resist mantra" as you put it, you'd have to see it as a straw that broke the camels back OR that trump has been biding his time waiting for the time he could shut it down.

the truth is trump is pure reaction, no hard and fast plans. he can't stick to a script if they offered him a million dollars to read a single sentence.

he's let his base down on multiple fronts, from his bullshit 100 day layout to using EO's as a bludgeon just like his authoritarian predecessor. he's been exposed as an ineffectual distraction from business as usual who will be washed away in a few terms after he leaves office. he's going all in on the wall because the Reeeesistence movement is killing him, they somehow found a way to make a SCOTUS pick look dicey even without the votes to make it interesting. they've shut down all legislation, his agenda is dead from a law of the land standpoint, etc. he's dying for something, he has done nothing. 2 Scotus picks and that's it. like a QB who looks back on a career with only "well i got that one playoff win" to help him sleep at night.

trump has been a disaster from both sides of the aisle. the right just doesn't get it yet. Trump washed away all off Obama's "accomplishments" with a stroke of a pen, Trump is next in line to have his legacy undone with zero effort. being an EO president makes you exposed to washing away everything you worked for. Trump was supposed to be the great negotiator. and instead we have one bipartisan deal spearheaded by kim fucking kardashian and kanye west. he even outsources his own PR and negotiations.

i'd like you to consider the "reeeeesist" movement not as a thing to laugh at, not as a meme, but as a new precedent in politics. the dems are winning right not, big time. they basically help trump to only a field goal at the half on defense. the right started it with Obama and the left has made it far worse. it's a braindead easy strategy, like posting "lol you're mad" anytime some posts over a sentence on d2jsp.

yup a shut down helps the dems from all angles. trump's desperate. or he'll have to give up on 2020.

So you think, out of nowhere, Trump is all of a sudden having a brand new reaction to the reesist movement? honestly im confused about what you even mean if you disagree with the bold.

you said he's shutting down the govt because of the dem reeesist campaign. did you not mean that? or were u being hyperbolic? mudslinging? im confused.

him shutting down the govt fits like a glove with a pattern of previous behavior and is perfectly in line with his stated negotiation strategy in Art of The Deal as well as how people have claimed he does business for decades. shut down the talks after disagreements take place, then sit back and wait for a phone call. it's not a reaction to the dems campaign of resistance, it's his modus operandi. its got 5 decades of precedent out of office and 2 years of precedent in office. he's the cry baby that takes his ball home when strikes out and then sits at home waiting for his friends to beg him to come back.

I think you and I are arguing different things. You take it way off the rails because you're into that sort of stuff - going off on long winded tangents.

Dems have been #Resisting Trump since he announced. They refuse to work with him and he knows and has known it. I never said he's just now giving into the resist movement and this is the "straw that broke the camels' back" you added that piece. I'm going with he's waited until after the midterms to finally go into the shutdown as this is the most time he'll have before he needs to appear like a good boy for 2020 elections. He needs the wall for himself and his base.

Must be a slow day at work, or one hell of a long shit. You're in full go mode today.
